Hour of Code Celebration!

Hour of Code Celebration!

The Hour of Code/Computer Science Education Week is a global movement to get students coding. This year the CES STEAM Team taught coding lessons to each grade level the week of December 9th!  Pre-K students used our school robots during their morning meetings and some classes had special visits from advanced 6th grade coders. Kindergarten-2nd grade students visited our Cambridge Create Lab to code in stations. Students wrote code for Frosty the Snowman to dance around a game board as well as programmed robots to visit different places in our student-made Kingdom of Arendelle based on the movie Frozen while other students used coding programs on the ipads and chromebooks with the guidance of Tech Ambassadors. Students in the upper grades completed advanced tutorials on Code.org. Many students started with the exciting dance party tutorial. The Tech Ambassadors hope to create a video for next week’s COL highlighting many of our CES coders. Since all grades participated in Hour Code, Tech Ambassadors wrote out certificates for every student in the building to be taken home this week.
