STEAM Week Was A Great Success!

Our first ever “STEAM Week” was a great success! Students in every grade level had an opportunity to participate in interest based hands-on workshops throughout the week. Students in the 5th and 6th grade Tech Ambassador program designed each lesson and practiced their leadership skills as they shared knowledge with their peers. Twenty-three different workshops were offered by this group over the course of the week! Lessons included programming robots, coding with lego kits, building an electrical circuit in Minecraft, creating art with handmade robots or 3D pens, and composing an original song with looping instruments.

The idea behind STEAM education, (which incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) is to provide a multidisciplinary approach that builds critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration skills around technical subjects.

The week concluded with a visit from ECHO educators, who brought a variety of hands-on science, technology, engineering, and math activities to CES as part of their traveling STEM fair!
