Monarchs! Monarchs! Many classes have spent the start of the school year becoming experts in the life cycle of monarch butterflies. Students have raised caterpillars in their classrooms, learned about the monarch's amazing migration through a storywalk on the playground, and discovered interesting facts through research and observation.

Fun fact: The monarchs that we've been raising are part of the late summer "super generation" that will travel over 2,300 miles to their overwintering location in Mexico! These butterflies will live over eight months to kick off the journey northward in the spring.
