Change for Ukraine

Donate to our Fundraiser Online!

Dear CES Families,

I hope that this note finds you safe, healthy, and warm!  I am so pleased to announce that after a couple weeks of planning, we are ready to roll out a school-wide fundraiser to benefit the people of Ukraine through the work of World Central Kitchen.  Below is a link about this amazing organization which responds to people affected by worldwide crises with hot meals.  They are currently providing  meals to Ukrainian refugees as they cross into bordering countries.

I believe strongly in the importance of teaching our youth the importance of helping others in need.  Many of our students are well aware of the situation in Ukraine and want to help.   Our students love to extend a hand whenever they can!

We will officially kick off the fundraiser on Monday with a student led newscast that will be shared with all of our classrooms.  We will send this video to families too.  It is outstanding!  Additionally, teachers will share an informational video about the work of WCK with students in grades 3-6.   You will find a link to this news story below. For our students in grades PreK-2, staff will explain that the people of Ukraine are leaving their homes because it is not safe for them to live there anymore.  They need help with meals as they travel to their new homes and the money that we collect will help to pay for these meals.

The fundraiser will have two components - collection of change in classrooms and an online donation page for our school community.   Our student tech ambassadors will distribute change collection jars to classrooms on Monday. The donation link will be emailed to staff and families on Monday.  Don't be surprised if your child comes home asking for all of your loose change!

The fundraiser will take place through April vacation.  Our tech ambassadors will count the change and share donation total updates with us.

The tech ambassadors and Faith Horton made a promotional poster which you can see above.

I would like to thank Faith Horton and the tech ambassadors for taking on my idea with such enthusiasm.  It is a reminder of how much we can accomplish when we work together on a common goal!

Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Go Wildcats!  We can make a difference! ❤
