Cell Phone and Personal Device Definition
- Cell phones (both phones that connect to the internet and non-internet connected phones that send and receive text messages, and make phone calls)
- Personal electronic devices such as electronic tablets and video games
- Airpods, earbuds and Bluetooth connected headphones; and smartwatches that connect to the internet
Exception
The school staff shall require documentation from a licensed medical professional to support an exception for conditions such as diabetes or seizure monitoring, The exception is specific to the need only and still prohibits cell phone use for any other purpose.
Personal Electronic Device Expectations
- Cell phones and personal electronic devices must be silenced and stored in a secure location of the student, family, or caregivers choosing upon arrival to campus. Devices should remain out of sight and unused for the entire school day.

- Headphones, earbuds, and other listening devices are prohibited during the school day unless explicitly allowed by a teacher or staff member.
- The use of camera or recording functions is strictly prohibited without prior consent. Photos, videos, or recordings of any individual or school activity are not allowed without permission.
Storage and Responsibility
- Students and families are responsible for securing personal devices in a way that ensures they are not visible, audible, or used during school hours.
- CES staff and administration are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal electronic devices.
Violations and Consequences

- First Violation: The student will be asked to surrender the device. It will be held in the office and returned at the end of the school day.
- Second Violation: The device will be confiscated again, and a parent/caregiver will be contacted. A parent/caregiver conference may be required before the device is returned.
- Subsequent Violations: The student may face further disciplinary consequences, including restricted privileges and administrative intervention.
Note: Administration reserves the right to adjust consequences on a case-by-case basis, particularly in cases involving safety violations, bullying, harassment, or other serious misuse of devices.
Parent/Guardian/Student Communication
If a parent/guardian or student needs to communicate during the school day, a phone will be available in the main office.
